China advocates true multilateralism at UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting

BEIJING, Dec. 7 -- A delegation of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense attended the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting in Accra, Ghana, on December 6.

The Chinese side pointed out in its statement at the meeting, that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China firmly promotes the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, calls for joint implementation of Global Security Initiatives and adherence to true multilateralism, and takes the responsibility for world peace and development.

The Chinese side stressed that China is committed to upholding the basic principles of peacekeeping, strengthening peacekeeping capacity, and ensuring the safety and security of peacekeepers. In order to support the improvement and strengthening of UN peacekeeping operations and promote the implementation and practice of the UN Secretary-General's Initiative on Action for Peacekeeping, China is ready to strengthen peacekeeping standby capacity building, hold international training courses on peacekeeping and carry out exchanges on peacekeeping ideas and experience, so as to make greater contribution to the maintenance of international peace and security.
