The members of the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to UNMISS take oath to fulfill peacekeeping mission on December 12, 2023.

BEIJING, Dec. 13 -- On December 12, the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) held an oath-taking rally at the peacekeeping training camp prior to heading to the mission area abroad.

Members of the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to UNMISS are mainly selected from a brigade under the Chinese PLA 81st Group Army. Since its establishment in September, they have organized comprehensive drills through simulation of various contingencies that would be possibly encountered in the mission area, such as emergent explosives disposal and contingency response, communication and negotiation, and protection of civilians.

The first batch of 350 members of the 10th peacekeeping infantry battalion will depart to the mission area abroad on December 14. They will rotate the 9th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to UNMISS and undertake the one-year peacekeeping mission after that.
