BEIJING, Apr. 8 -- The opening ceremony of the "Sayan Range March" snowfield combat and march competition of the International Army Games (IAG) 2024 was held in the Western Sayan Range region, Russia on April 6. Nine participating teams from seven countries and regions, including China, Russia and Iran, attended the opening ceremony.
The competition officially started at 10 am on April 7 as scheduled. On the first competition day, the participants competed in six items, such as avalanche search and rescue, casualty delivery and group firing.
The "Sayan Range March" snowfield combat and march competition has been part of the IAG since 2019. The Chinese Army had dispatched teams twice to participate in the competition previously, ranking second by the total score both times. For this year's event, the Chinese Army dispatched female soldiers to participate in the competition for the first time.
