BEIJING, Apr. 25 -- "China firmly opposes the US deployment of medium-range ballistic missiles in the Asia-pacific. Our position is clear and consistent. The US's move severely threatens the security of regional countries and undermines regional peace and stability," said Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense (MND), at a regular press conference on Thursday afternoon.
It is reported that the US Army Pacific released a readout on its website that the US 1st Multi-Domain Task Force (MDTF) had deployed mid-range capability missiles to northern Luzon, the Philippines for the first time, and analysts said that the missile is able to reach China's coast.
When asked to comment on that, the Chinese defense spokesperson made the above remarks, adding that China will take resolute countermeasures.
"We hope the relevant country could refrain from opening the door to the devil, which will only end up hurting everyone including itself," stressed the spokesperson.
