JUBA, May 30 -- Recently, the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) organized and participated in various activities to commemorate the 22nd International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
This year's theme for the International Day of UN Peacekeepers is "Fit for the Future, Building Better Together." At the invitation of UNMISS, representatives of the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to UNMISS attended the commemoration of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers on the morning of May 29, local time.
Members of the Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion also visited the children at the House of Hope orphanage in Juba. They brought the children humanitarian aid such as school supplies and daily necessities, as well as wonderful performances such as Sichuan opera's "face-changing", acrobatics, folk dances, and martial arts.
Since their deployment to the mission area, the troops of the 10th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to UNMISS have completed more than 70 armed-escort and patrol tasks, and donated more than 5,000 humanitarian aid items, earning high praise from UNMISS and local people.
