SHENYANG, Nov. 28 -- The 11th batch of Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs' remains returned to China from the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Thursday.
China and ROK jointly held the encoffining ceremony for the 11th batch of CPV martyrs' remains at a temporary resting station in Incheon, ROK. The ROK side encoffined the martyrs' remains and handed over the remains of 43 CPV martyrs and 495 pieces of belongings to China.
After the ceremony, the two sides carried the coffins to the Incheon International Airport. The Chinese side held a solemn mourning ceremony at the apron of the airport.
Fang Kun, Charge d' Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in the ROK, covered the coffins with Chinese national flags. All the people present bowed three times to the CPV martyrs. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Guard of Honor guided the coffins of the martyrs to board the PLA Air Force's (PLAAF) Y-20 transport aircraft.
At noon, the PLAAF Y-20 transport aircraft carrying the remains and 495 items of personal belongings of the fallen soldiers landed at Shenyang, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Since 2014, the two countries, in accordance with international laws and humanitarian principles and upholding the approach of openness, friendship and pragmatic cooperation, have accomplished the handover of the remains of 981 CPV martyrs in the ROK, along with related belongings, for 11 consecutive years.
