BEIJING, April 30 -- The inaugural Navigator Meeting of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum wrapped up as the closing ceremony was held at the Huabei Hotel in Beijing, China, on Wednesday.
Major General (Ret.) Du Nongyi, Vice Chairman of China Institute for International Strategic Studies and Former Chinese Defense Attaché to the Republic of Korea, hosted the closing ceremony and delivered a concluding speech.
The Navigator Meeting has provided participants from China and abroad with a platform of equal dialogue and candid exchange. In the past two days, defense officials, experts and scholars from more than 30 countries and international organizations shared their opinions about the current global security landscape and regional hotspot issues. With this meeting as the prelude, the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum is expected to be more constructive and productive.
As one of the largest multilateral defense and security forums, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has gained more popularity in the international community, which can be seen from the increasing number of participants from all over the world. Today we're living in a world rife with risks and challenges rarely seen before. Regional security hotspots keep flaring up and local conflicts occur frequently. That's why open and inclusive dialogue platforms like the Beijing Xiangshan Forum have been widely recognized and supported by most countries in the world.
In the future, the forum will continue to uphold the spirit of equality, openness, inclusiveness and mutual learning, make more efforts to foster global security exchange and cooperation and improve global security governance, and make greater contributions to collectively addressing global security challenges.
