BEIJING, June 6 -- In the past few days, continuous heavy rains hit the northwestern part of southwest China's Yunnan Province and caused a rare flood in Dulongjiang Township of Gongshan County, Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Nujiang. Many roads, power and communication facilities were severely damaged, leaving 15 tourists stranded in Bapo Village.
Rescue forces from an army brigade under the Chinese PLA Southern Theater Command, together with the local militia, rushed to the disaster area with compressed rations, life safety ropes, and other supplies to carry out rescue operations. At present, with concerted efforts, they have successfully transferred the trapped people to a safe area.
