Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency vessel makes maiden visit to China

SANYA, China, June 23 -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) vessel 8305 visited Sanya City in south China's Hainan Province from June 16 to 20. The Chinese and Malaysian coast guards held their first work conference.

The two sides exchanged views on promoting personnel exchanges, information sharing, maritime search and rescue, and joint law enforcement. They agreed to further deepen practical maritime cooperation, strengthen information exchange and interaction, properly handle maritime emergencies, and jointly maintain regional maritime security and stability.

During the visit, the China Coast Guard (CCG) organized activities such as ship visits, maritime law enforcement seminars, deck receptions, friendly sports matches, and cultural visits for its Malaysian counterparts.

It is reported that this port visit marks the first time that the MMEA vessel has visited China and the first time that the Chinese and Malaysian maritime law enforcement agencies have formally carried out exchanges and interactions, which enhanced bilateral relations, strengthened mutual trust, and deepened cooperation between the two sides.
