BEIJING, Sep. 12 (ChinaMil) - According to the Training and Administration Department of China’s Central Military Commission, Chinese military plans to restore the daily bugle calls schedule from October 1. The new bugle calls system will be implemented throughout the army on August 1 next year.
It’s reported that the purpose of restoring and improving the bugle calls system of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is to further strengthen the troops' consciousness in listening to orders, inherit the good traditions of the army, and boost the soldiers' morale.
The bugle calls system was established in the early age of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and played an important role in guaranteeing the victory of the war.
However, due to the evolution of the warfare and the progress of the PLA’s military modernization since the 1980s, the use of the military bugle calls, which mainly functioned in command and communications, had become outdated and gradually declined.
This time, the Chinese military has adjusted and bettered its new bugle calls system's function and position. In future, the new bugle calls system will be primarily used for assisting forces management, and will also play roles in coordinating command and communications, and promoting military culture.
It is learnt that the new bugle calls system has clearly defined the time and occasions to play the 21 types of bugle calls in three categories of tunes, including routine calls, action calls, and ceremonial calls. These bugle calls will be played by buglers or be broadcast in recorded form.
For example, the new routine bugle calls will include 11 items, namely, reveille, drill, recall, mess, school call, recall, nap, after nap, retreat, taps, and tattoo.
