Russian President meets with Chinese CMC Vice Chairman

MOSCOW, Nov. 8 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the visiting Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) General Zhang Youxia in Moscow on November 8, local time.

President Putin said that friendly relations between Russia and China are conducive to maintaining world and regional peace and stability, which is completely different from the alliance during the Cold War. In recent years, the two countries have maintained close collaboration in international multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS. Cooperation between the two militaries in various fields has developed well and achieved fruitful results and has played an important role in safeguarding the strategic security of the two countries. Russia is willing to strengthen strategic communication with China, improve the level of practical cooperation, and continuously promote the in-depth development of relations between the two countries and their militaries, said Putin.

General Zhang said that the China-Russia friendship is continuously strengthened and ever-lasting. The relationship between the two militaries symbolizes the high-level and specialness of the bilateral relations. In recent years, the two militaries have maintained strong relations, with numerous cooperative highlights in various fields. The Chinese military is willing to work with its Russian counterpart to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries, jointly safeguard the interests of both countries and maintain world and regional prosperity and stability.

Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu held a welcome ceremony for General Zhang and a formal talk with him on the morning of the same day.
