Military delegation to 2nd session of 14th NPC holds panel meetings

BEIJING, Mar. 6 -- The panel meetings of the delegation of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the People's Armed Police Force (PAP) to the second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) were held in Beijing on the afternoon of March 5.

General Zhang Youxia, NPC deputy, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), emphasized that the people's armed forces have successfully fulfilled their missions and tasks over the past year, and achieved new accomplishments and progress in national defense and military development. He stressed that the whole military should intensify combat readiness, overcome training difficulties, strengthen the overall planning of major tasks, expedite the development and utilization of network information system, and enhance the strategic capability to better safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests.

General He Weidong, NPC deputy, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the CMC, emphasized that in the past year, the people's armed forces have accomplished major tasks such as military training, emergency rescue and disaster relief, peacekeeping and evacuation missions. He added that the military has effectively defended national sovereignty, security and development interests. He also stressed that the whole military should persistently improve Party conduct and enforce Party discipline, fight corruption, rectify formalities and bureaucratism, and purify the atmosphere within the troops.
