Cuban President meets with China's CMC Vice Chairman He Weidong

HAVANA, Dec. 13 -- Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Cuban President, met on Dec. 11, local time, with visiting Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) General He Weidong in Havana.

Diaz-Canel first asked General He Weidong to convey his sincere greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Then he spoke highly of the relations between the two parties, two countries and two militaries. He expressed gratitude to China for providing timely and effective assistance to Cuba's economic and social development, adding that the Cuban side firmly supports the one-China principle, and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields and join China to build a Cuba-China community with a shared future.

General He Weidong also conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's best wishes to Diaz-Canel. He stated that the traditional friendship between China and Cuba has been passed on from generation to generation, and the relations between the two parties, two countries and two militaries remain steadfast. Under the strategic guidance of two heads of state, the two sides have conducted close strategic collaboration, resulting in fruitful pragmatic cooperation. No matter how the international situation changes, the two sides will firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, further enhance cooperation in mutual visits and communication, personnel training and other fields, and elevate the military-to-military relations to a new level to inject new impetus into the building of a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

During his visit, General He Weidong also visited General Raul Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and met with Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, exchanging views on topics such as the relations between the two countries and two militaries as well as international and regional situations.
