BEIJING, Jan. 13 -- Five years ago, on January 12, 2020, type-055 guided-missile destroyer, the Nanchang (Hull 101), was officially commissioned to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). As the first ship of the 055 10,000-ton class guided-missile destroyer independently developed by China, Nanchang has inherited the hull number "101". The commissioning of Nanchang five years ago marked the PLAN destroyers' leap from the third generation to the fourth generation.
