BEIJING, Jan. 31 -- Chinese PLA Navy now has 8 Type 055 guided-missile destroyers in active service: Nanchang (101), Lhasa (102), Anshan (103), Wuxi (104), Dalian (105), Yan'an (106), Zunyi (107), Xianyang (108).
These 8 vessels are attached to the Chinese PLA Northern Theater Command and Southern Theater Command.
The versatility makes the warship suited for a wide range of missions, including: Air defense, anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, long-range strike capability.
The Type 055 destroyer is packed with cutting-edge technologies and weapon systems, making it one of the most advanced warships currently in service.
The eight warships now play an important role in safeguarding China’s national sovereignty, security and development interests.
