BEIJING, April 2 -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command started to conduct joint exercises around Taiwan Island on April 1st.
The army, navy, air and rocket forces assigned to the PLA Eastern Theater Command closed in on Taiwan Island from multiple directions.
The exercises mainly focused on sea-air combat-readiness patrols, joint seizure of comprehensive superiority, strike on maritime and ground targets, and blockade of key areas and sea lanes.
The exercises serve as a stern warning and forceful deterrent against the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and are a legitimate and necessary action to safeguard China's sovereignty and national unity.
