NAIROBI, June 23 -- On June 20, the 15th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) went to the Kosti Girls Primary School and donated school supplies, sports equipment, and daily necessities to the local teachers and students.
The Kosti Girls Primary School is located near the barracks of the Chinese peacekeeping engineering contingent. Due to continuous turmoil in the local situation, the school is in extreme shortage of school supplies. The Chinese peacekeeping engineers managed to raise the related materials and donated to the school more than 1,000 pieces of supplies including schoolbags, footballs, basketballs, and watercolor pens.
"The generous donation by the Chinese peacekeepers helps greatly improve the teaching condition of our school. We will always remember this friendship," said a teacher from the Kosti Girls Primary School.
The Chinese peacekeepers also interacted and exchanged with the teachers and students, telling them Chinese stories and teaching them to write Chinese characters. In addition, they presented the teachers and students with a guitar performance and other programs, bringing them laughter and joy.
