Over the past year, guided by Xi Jinping's thinking on strengthening the military and Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, the Chinese military has maintained unity between knowledge and practice and honored its commitment, according to deputies of military delegation to 3rd session of China's 14th National People's Congress (NPC). As a contributor to global security and stability, a promoter of global security governance, and a builder of a community of shared security for mankind, it has played an active role in safeguarding world peace.

Building a bridge of exchanges

The 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum kicked off on September 13 last year. Nie Songlai, a military deputy from the PLA Academy of Military Sciences, said that in recent years, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has continuously risen in international influence. It has gradually become a renowned high-end security and defense dialogue platform both at home and abroad.

Some military deputies who have attended the forum multiple times and engaged in discussions with foreign guests noted that the forum's agenda covers a wide range of topics, including regional security cooperation, outer space security governance, AI security, and counterterrorism. They emphasized that countries generally recognize that effectively addressing these security challenges cannot be achieved by any single nation. Instead, robust and lasting common security can only be realized through international cooperation.

It is precisely the original intention that drives the Chinese military's increasing efforts to host such forums at home and abroad: to build communication bridges and openly demonstrate its principles and positions.

Military deputies noted that over the past year, from the 19th biennial meeting of the Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) to the 5th International Army Forum on Military Education and the 4th Symposium on Military Medicine of China-Africa Peace and Security Forum, the Chinese military has consistently built communication platforms, improved exchange mechanisms, and promoted practical cooperation. These efforts have deepened the international community's understanding of China's peace-oriented vision and security initiatives, earning widespread recognition.

Providing security support

The world today is witnessing turbulent changes, with global challenges keep cropping up. In such times, the Chinese military is even more committed to taking proactive responsibility, and China's actions, embodying the concept of a shared destiny, are increasingly anticipated by the international community.

Li Pu, who participated in the escort mission with the Chinese naval escort taskforce five years ago, introduced that since the commencement of escort missions in December 2008, the Chinese Navy has sent 47 batches of more than 100 vessels to the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somali to carry out missions. By early March this year, the Chinese naval escort taskforce has made 1,659 round trips in these waters, escorting more than 7,300 Chinese and foreign ships safely. These efforts have played a vital role in ensuring the safe and smooth passage of the international commercial "golden waterway."

In the crisis-ridden international peacekeeping battlefield, the Chinese military demonstrates its responsibility and commitment to maintaining world peace through concrete actions. Currently, nearly 1,800 Chinese service members are carrying out missions in multiple peacekeeping mission areas, such as Lebanon and South Sudan, as well as at the United Nations headquarters.

In a world fraught with uncertainties and instability, China firmly stands on the right side of history and on the side of human progress to provide certainty to this uncertain world. As a staunch force in safeguarding national security interests and upholding world peace, the Chinese military will continue to make more contributions to maintaining world peace.
