BEIJING, June 12 -- Under the impact of a short-time strong thunderstorm, some villages of Ande Town, Jingxi City of Baise in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, were flooded and waterlogged on June 10, with houses deluged, roads blocked and power interrupted. More than 500 villagers from about 176 households were in urgent need of evacuation.

After receiving the order, the Baise detachment under the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) Force Guangxi Corps rushed to the disaster-affected area to carry out rescue operations in cooperation with local emergency response forces.

Upon reaching the disaster-affected area, the PAP troops worked out a rescue plan, and trudged into all the impacted villages to search for and rescue the flood-stranded residents. As of 6:00 p.m. the same day, all the stranded people were evacuated to safe places.

According to the meteorological department, the area will still be subjected to heavy rain in the following days. The PAP troops of the Baise detachment are moving the rescue equipment to the frontline, getting prepared for response at short notice and sustained operations.
