BEIJING, Dec. 11 -- The first batch of the 14th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent to South Sudan (Wau) completed the routine deployment rotation with its predecessor recently, beginning the one-year overseas peacekeeping mission in the Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to UNMISS.

In addition to the handover of commanding power, medical supplies, weapons and equipment, etc., the rotating contingents also conducted in-depth exchanges on the security situation of the mission area, the surrounding environment of the barracks, and precautions during mission execution. 

It is learnt that the 13th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent had treated more than 1,600 people, completed more than 20 surgeries, conducted seven medical evacuations and examined more than 1,100 people, successfully fulfilling its one-year peacekeeping medical mission.

After the rotation, the 14th Chinese peacekeeping medical contingent will provide medical service at the Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to UNMISS in the Wau mission area, mainly responsible for the medical organization and command, medical treatment and evacuation in the mission area, disease prevention and control, and health supplies support, as well as the implementation of relevant humanitarian relief tasks.

Peacekeepers of the Chinese Peacekeeping Level-2 Hospital to UNMISS provide medical service to local people.
