"Don't worry! We are your family in the hospital. We will take care of you!" Not long ago, Soldier Li, who was hospitalized alone in the hospital under the Hubei Corps of the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) Force, was very anxious before lumbar spine surgery. Ji Li, a female nurse from the First Department of Surgery of the hospital, promptly provided psychological counseling to Soldier Li to ensure that the operation could proceed as scheduled.

Ji Li comes from a martyr's family. Her father, Ji Hongshan, former chief of staff of the Ezhou Detachment under the PAP Force Hubei Corps, suffered from myocardial infarction and lost his life during a flood emergency rescue mission when Ji Li was 11 years old. Since her father's death, Ji Li grew up with the care and support from the military and society. When she graduated from high school, she applied for the PAP Medical College without hesitation.

In college, Ji Li devoted herself to the study of nursing knowledge. To better assist patients in relieving negative emotions, she obtained the national certification of psychological consultant  through self-study.

After the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, Ji Li volunteered to work in the high-risk respiratory medicine department. She shuttled between various wards wearing heavy protective suits  every day. Her clothes were drenched by sweat, with sore marks of face mask and goggles left on her face.

After tirelessly fighting for dozens of days, Ji Li voluntarily applied to work at a rehabilitation site at Hubei University without taking a break. In the battle against COVID-19, she touched numerous patients with her wholehearted dedication and unwavering professionalism, and was awarded the title of National March 8th Red-banner Pacesetter for Fighting against COVID-19.

Since being elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) over a year ago, Ji Li has been busy collecting needs and concerns of grassroots service members through on-site visits and follow-up telephone calls, while providing medical service to them. Ji Li is now prepared to put forth relevant suggestions on effectively utilizing military hospitals' medical service capabilities and better serving service members during the second session of the 14th NPC .
