BEIJING, Sept. 26 -- "It is precisely the US and its Allies and partners that create insecurity risks. We urge the US to stop false narratives, stop dangerous and provocative actions, and strictly restrain the activities of its frontline forces," said Chinese Defense Spokesperson Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang at regular press briefing on Thursday.

Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang made this remark when asked to comment on the recent statement issued by the US Indo-Pacific Headquarters. The statement said that the US urges China to reconsider the use of dangerous, coercive and potentially escalatory tactics in the South China Sea and other areas.

In response to that, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang said that it is the US and its allies and partners that create insecurity risks. Their vessels and aircraft had conducted frequent close-in reconnaissance in China's vicinity, illegally trespassed into China's territorial seas or administered maritime and air spaces, harassed routine exercises of the Chinese side, and took irresponsible and dangerous moves. These operations severely undermined China's sovereignty and security interests, put the safety of Chinese and their own personnel at risk, and jeopardized regional peace and stability.

He pointed out that according to preliminary statistics, by September this year, the US military has sent about 1500 aircraft to China's vicinity for reconnaissance or harassment. It is the full evidence that the US side is the true provocateur, spoiler and saboteur.

"We urge the US side stop false narratives, stop dangerous and provocative operations, and strictly restrain the activities of its frontline forces," said the spokesperson."The Chinese military is always on high alert, and ready to take all necessary measures in accordance with law and regulations to resolutely fight back and counter infringing and provocative acts, and to safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests."
