BEIJING, July 30 -- China urges the Japanese side to stop hyping up China-related matters, be cautious with its words and deeds in the field of military security, said a Chinese defense spokesperson on Wednesday.

According to Kyodo News, Japan's Defense Ministry on July 28 unveiled its first Space Domain Defense Guidelines, which aimed at bolstering its defenses in outer space, in response to the threats posed by the so-called militarization of space. The Guidelines claimed that China and Russia are developing killer satellites to attack and neutralize artificial satellites of other countries. The militarization of space is advancing with growing threats and risks.

In response to that, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, said that China firmly opposes the irresponsible smears and accusations made by the Japanese side against China.

"In recent years, the Japanese side has been barreling down the road of military expansion, expanding military cooperation in the space with the US and other western countries, and pushing for the development and deployment of space weapons in the name of defense," said the spokesperson. "This has aroused concerns of its neighboring countries over the resurgence of militarism in Japan."

China urges the Japanese side to stop hyping up China-related matters, be cautious with its words and deeds in the field of military security, and earn the trust from its Asian neighbors and international community through concrete actions, said the spokesperson.
