NEW DELHI, May 29 (Xinhua) -- An Apache helicopter belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday made an emergency landing in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, officials said.

The helicopter made the emergency landing in Bhind district, about 518 km north of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh.

"An Apache AH-64 helicopter of the IAF carried out a precautionary landing near Bhind during routine operational training. All crew and the aircraft are safe. The rectification party has reached the site," reads a statement issued by IAF.

Officials said the pilot noticed a technical fault in the helicopter, after which he decided to make the precautionary landing. The snag was later rectified, and the helicopter could take off again.

The Boeing AH-64 Apache is an American twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear arrangement and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two.
