Naval Medical University sends 7th medical expert team to Cambodia

SHANGHAI, Feb. 9 (ChinaMil) -- A medical expert team sent by the PLA Naval Medical University set out to Cambodia on February 5, 2018. The team will carry out a one-year medical assistance mission at the Preah KetMealea Hospital, known as the general hospital of the Cambodian armed forces, in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia.

The team’s five medical experts come from the departments of Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Medical Imaging and Anesthesiology in the three affiliated hospitals of the PLA Naval Medical University, i.e., the Changhai Hospital, the Changzheng Hospital and the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital.

They will help the Preah KetMealea Hospital with clinical treatment, technical assistance, personnel training and other work.

Since 2012, the PLA Naval Medical University has sent six teams of medical experts to Cambodia for assistance missions. The Chinese military medical experts have total completed more than 23,000 outpatient treatments and more than 1,300 surgeries, cured nearly 10,000 cases of all kinds of infectious diseases.

The medical experts in the six teams have all been conferred the "Peace Knight Medal" and the "China-Cambodia Peace and Friendship Medal" by the Cambodian Defense Ministry.
