QINGDAO, May 7 (ChinaMil) -- Frigate RSS Intrepid of the Singapore Navy arrived in Qingdao for a four-day visit to the port city in east China's Shandong Province on May 6. The RSS Intrepid last visited Qingdao in April 2017.

Coming together with the Singaporean warship to Qingdao are 19 naval officers, 85 sailors and 46 midshipmen of the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI).

The Navy under the Northern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) hosted a welcome ceremony for the visiting RSS Intrepid at the naval port on Sunday. Rear Admiral Yang Su, deputy naval chief of staff of the PLA Northern Theater Command met with the commanding officers of the RSS Intrepid on Monday morning.

A series of exchange activities are arranged for the officers and soldiers of the two navies including visiting each other's warships, watching drills of single-ship damage control, biochemical protection and battle wound treatment.

In addition, some of the SAFTI midshipmen will visit the Naval Submarine Academy of the PLA Navy, where the midshipmen of both sides will hold interactions and a friendly football match.

At the end of the China visit, the RSS Intrepid will conduct a joint drill with the guided-missile frigate Daqing from the PLA Navy's Beihai Fleet to practice the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea, focusing on such subjects as maritime communication and formation maneuvers.
