Chinese peacekeeping nurses in S. Sudan win UN award

WAU, South Sudan, May 14 (ChinaMil) -- Eight nurses of the 8th Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment to South Sudan got the excellence award conferred by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to commend the quality and efficiency of their nursing work last Friday, the day before International Nurses' Day.

Since the detachment was deployed to the mission area in last September, the eight Chinese nurses have taken part in surgical operations and nursing hospitalized patients for more than 1,500 cases, have offered high quality nursing in actions of critical patients transfer, cross-border air evacuation, and mass casualty treatment.

They also contributed in the establishment of standardized nursing processes in the mission area and played an important role in the successful completion of the peacekeeping missions of the Chinese peacekeeping medical detachment.
