ISTANBUL, May 25 (ChinaMil) -- A seven-member team sent by the Naval University of Engineering (NUE) of the Chinese PLA Navy won the championship at the 20th International Nautical Competition hosted by the Turkish Naval Academy in Istanbul from 7th to 11th of May.

Apart from the team title, the seven midshipmen from the AUE also pocketed the first prize in the three events of sailing, salvage and seamanship.

This is the fifth time that the NUE has consecutively sent its midshipmen to participate in the annual competition in Turkey since 2013, and the Chinese team has won four championships except for the 17th competition in 2014.

Created by the Turkish Naval Academy in 1998, the Turkey International Nautical Competition has four individual events - sailing, seamanship, swimming and salvage. Teams from 12 countries took part in the competition this year, including China, the UK, Italy, Romania, Turkey and South Korea.
