GDYNIA, June 25 (ChinaMil) -- The guided-missile frigate Binzhou (Hull 515) of the 29th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived at Port of Gdynia, Poland on June 22 to attend the 5-day Centenary Celebration of the Polish Navy.
The frigate Binzhou arrived at Port of Gdynia at 14:00. The director of Operations Centre of the Polish Navy, the speaker of the Gdynia Parliament, and Yao Dongye, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Poland, welcomed the frigate and delivered speeches respectively at the port.
Other working staffs from the Chinese embassy and consular and representatives of overseas Chinese also attended the welcome ceremony.
The director of Operations Centre of the Polish Navy visited the frigate Binzhou and reviewed the guard of honour accompanied by the commanding officer of the Chinese taskforce.
Later, the commanding officer of the Chinese naval taskforce met with the working staffs of the Chinese embassy and consular and briefed them on escort missions of the 29th escort taskforce and its participation in the “Kiel Week” in Germany.
It is reported that nations sending vessels to join the Centenary Celebration of the Polish Navy include Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Lithuania and other countries.
During its stay in Poland, the frigate Binzhou will participate in the fleet review, the Centennial of the Polish Navy Seminar, a friendship football match and the unveiling ceremony of the Polish Maritime Monument. The frigate will also be open to the public.
It is the second visit to Poland for Chinese naval ships. The Taskforce 152 of the Chinese PLA Navy visited Poland in October 2015.
