JINAN, Aug. 7 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese and Belarusian special operations forces commenced the joint training entitled “Eagle Assault 2018” at a comprehensive training base attached to the Northern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Jinan City of east China's Shandong Province on the morning of August 5, 2018.

During the launching ceremony, heads of the two delegations inspected the participating troops. After the ceremony, both sides exhibited some of their weapons and equipment and demonstrated such military training subjects as grappling and wrestling, climbing and fast-roping, confrontation shooting, sniping and so forth.

This joint training aims at improving special operations forces’ professional skills and counter-terrorism tactics, and involves 50 special operations soldiers respectively from each side. The Chinese participants come from a special operations brigade of the PLA 80th Group Army, while the Belarusian participants come from the Belarusian special operations forces.

Over the following 10 days, Chinese and Belarusian special operations soldiers will complete training subjects in mixed formation, including combat stamina, unarmed combat, parachute landing and fast-roping from the helicopter and so on.

The joint training by Chinese and Belarusian special operations forces is an important measure to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries and enhance practical exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries.

Under the principles of "friendship, exchanges, cooperation, and security", the joint training highlights a number of features including special operations, innovation, counter-terrorism, and alliance, and focuses on tempering special operations soldiers’ will power, character, and fighting morale.

It is said that a comprehensive exercise will be organized at the later period of the joint training, together with cultural exchanges and other activities.
