MACAO, Nov.24 -- Forty members of the national flag honoring team from Macao schools learned to raise the national flag under the guidance of service members stationed at the Taipa Camp of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)’s Macao Garrison on November 21. This was the first of its kind in this year since the outbreak of COVID-19, and was co-hosted by the PLA Macao Garrison and the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Macao SAR.
Middle school students from more than 30 schools in Macao formed four groups to practice in front of the four simulated flag stands set up in the camp's playground. They gradually became familiar with the necessary procedures and essentials of the flag-raising ceremony. All students solemnly paid their salutes as the national flag rose slowly.
Since the first national flag honoring activities for young students in 2016, more than 800 teenagers have participated in the annual camp and occasional activities. By now, all the universities, middle schools and primary schools in Macao would organize the national-flag-raising and national-anthem-singing ceremony every week.
Under normalized pandemic prevention and control, the Macao SAR government and the PLA Macao Garrison would resume and launch more relevant activities in following.
