China and India hold the 20th meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination Mechanism on Border Affairs on December 18, 2020.

BEIJING, Dec. 21 -- On December 18, 2020, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hong Liang and Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Naveen Srivastava co-chaired the 20th meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border affairs. Representatives from both countries' competent departments on diplomacy, national defense and immigration affairs attended the meeting.

Both sides frankly and deeply exchanged views on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on China-India border. They agreed to earnestly implement the five-point consensuses reached by the two foreign ministers at the Moscow meeting, focus on the disengagement of front-line troops, take concrete measures to solve issues on the ground, and further de-escalate the situation in the border region.

Both sides affirmed the outcomes of the 8th round of Military Corps Commander Level Talks, and agreed to continue dialogue and consultation via diplomatic and military channels so as to hold the 9th round of Military Corps Commander Level Talks as soon as possible, properly deal with the outstanding issues on the ground, and jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border region.
