BEIJING, Mar. 25 -- The Taiwan question is China's internal affair. It bears on China's core interests and brooks no outside forces’ interference in any form, said Senior Colonel Ren Guoqiang, Spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense (MND) at a regular press conference on Thursday.

Ren made those remarks when asked to making comment on an article about the Indo-Pacific situation recently published on the website of US Department of Defense which claimed that “Taiwan was never part of China”.

"The relevant remarks by the US side seriously breached the one-China principle and sent a wrong signal to the 'Taiwan independence' secessionists. Such remarks are of egregious nature. China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to that," said the spokesperson.

Ren reasserted China's standpoint, that the historical and legal facts that Taiwan region is part of China and both sides across the Taiwan Strait belong to one China can never be altered by anyone or any force.

The Taiwan question is China’s internal affair. It bears on China’s core interests and brooks no outside forces’ interference in any form. The Chinese PLA is resolutely determined to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, he stressed.

"China urges the US to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US Joint Communiqués, and prudently and properly handle the Taiwan question, lest it should bring severe damages to the state-to-state and mil-to-mil relations between the two countries and further harm cross-strait peace and stability," Ren warned in the end.
