BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Friday urged some members of the U.S. Congress to stop statements and actions violating the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiques.

They should stop sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" forces, said Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, in response to an act related to Taiwan recently put forward by some U.S. senators and the Taiwan-related contents in the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act just advanced by the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.

When commenting on Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority's appreciation of such moves, Zhu said that "Taiwan independence" will lead to nowhere and the attempts to resist reunification through military action will bring disaster to people of Taiwan.

"One should not underestimate our determination, will and ability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity," she said.
