美国至今仍未透露任何“康涅狄格”号核潜艇水下碰撞的细节以及核潜艇的损伤情况，对该事故有没有造成核泄漏、破坏海洋环境，会不会影响事发海域航行安全等三缄其口。这种不负责任、遮遮掩掩的做法，缺乏透明度，极易引发误解误判，中国及南海周边国家不得不质疑事件真相和美方意图。

The US still hasn’t disclosed any details about the collision incident of the USS Connecticut nuclear-powered submarine or damages to the submarine. Nor has it answered the questions as to whether the incident has caused a nuclear leak, damaged the marine environment or affected navigation safety in the sea areas where the incident happened. Such an irresponsible, evasive and non-transparent approach can easily lead to misunderstanding and misjudgment. China and other countries around the South China Sea have every reason to demand the truth of the incident and doubt America’s intentions.

事实上，国际社会想要了解的细节和真相根本就不是什么复杂问题。作为当事方，美国难道还不知道该核潜艇发生碰撞的具体地点以及是否造成了核泄漏？美方惯于自诩军事“透明”，但一些撒谎成性的美国政客被世人贻笑为政治“匹诺曹”，他们也惯于将所谓“不透明”的帽子扣到别人头上。此番，当国际社会需要美方表现出一点透明度时，他们却装聋作哑。究其原因，就是美方在故意隐瞒居心叵测的目的，或者在隐藏不可告人的信息。

As a matter of fact, the details and truth the international community asks for are not complicated at all. Being the responsible party, doesn’t the US know the exact location of the collision? Doesn’t it know whether there is a nuclear leak? The US always prides itself on its military “transparency”, and some US politicians have made it a habit of labeling others as being “non-transparent”, while they themselves, being known for their lies, are ridiculed by the world as political “Pinocchios”. Now when the whole world asks the US to show just a little transparency, they pretend to be deaf and dumb. It’s not hard to see that the US is trying to hide its sinister motives or certain information that it dares not disclose to the world.

美国在核潜艇事故问题上一问三不知的态度世人似曾相识。正如在新冠病毒溯源问题上，美方一边指责中国“阻挠国际调查”“缺乏透明度”；另一边却对同新冠病毒联系疑点重重的德特里克堡和北卡罗来纳大学生物实验室避而不答，并且面对国际社会就此展开公开透明调查并提供详细信息的强烈要求充耳不闻。例如，美方一边以“生物领域不可核查”等为由，单方面退出《禁止生物武器公约》核查议定书谈判，导致生物武器多边核查机制迟迟未能建立；另一边却在境外坐拥超过200个生物实验室，开展秘密生物试验，并拒绝透露具体实验内容。无论是新冠病毒溯源疑云，还是如今的核潜艇碰撞事故，这些美方一再回避的问题，并不会因为其消极逃避而自动消失，只会表明其心里有鬼。

America’s evasiveness on the nuclear-powered submarine collision incident looks familiar. With the origins tracing of the novel coronavirus, on the one hand, the US was accusing China with the excuse of "obstructing international investigations" and "lacking transparency"; on the other hand, it kept silent on the suspicious Fort Detrick and the bio-lab of the University of North Carolina and turned a deaf ear to the international community’s strong request for an open and transparent investigation into those two venues and for the provision of detailed information thereof. In the field of bio-weapon research, the US unilaterally retreated from the Biological Weapons Convention(BWC) verification protocol negotiations on the grounds that bio-sector cannot be verified, because of which, a multilateral bio-weapon verification mechanism still hasn’t been established. However, it has more than 200 bio-labs overseas, where it conducts secret bio-experiments and refuses to reveal what they are. From the origins tracing of novel coronavirus to the nuclear submarine collision incident today, these doubts and questions constantly dodged by the US will not disappear because of its “ostrich” attitude, but will only prove it has something to hide.

美国政客们撒起谎来脸不红心不跳、毫无道德底线。近期在涉疆问题上，美国炮制散布大量虚假信息，污蔑中国在新疆实施“种族灭绝”，粗暴干涉中国内政。在南海问题上，美国指责中国在南海搞“军事化”，自己却频繁开展所谓的“航行自由”行动、联合盟国加强军事部署……试问惯于标榜“航行自由”的美方，此次派出“康涅狄格”号核潜艇在南海出没又是为何？

American politicians feel no qualms about lying and have no moral baseline. The US has concocted and spread a lot of disinformation on Xinjiang recently, accusing China of “racial genocide” in Xinjiang and grossly interfering in China’s internal affairs. On the South China Sea issue, the US accused China of militarizing the region while it has frequently carried out the so-called “freedom of navigation” operations and intensified military deployments there with its allies. For the US always flaunting the so-called “freedom of navigation”, what is the reason for US to dispatch the USS Connecticut to the South China Sea this time?

美国在核潜艇事故问题上装聋作哑，但他们从来都不甘心只当一个哑巴。在操控国际舆论方面，美国一直没有闲着，挑拨离间、乱扣帽子是其混淆视听的一贯伎俩。冷战时期，美国有收买媒体操纵舆论的“知更鸟计划”；冷战结束后，美国频频利用话语霸权，系统化散播谎言、全方位操纵舆论。伊拉克战争时，美方曾“言之凿凿”的大规模杀伤性武器最后被证实子虚乌有；叙利亚冲突中，号称“铁证如山”的化学武器袭击也被证明是美国和盟友的“自导自演”……多年来，美国夹带私利，多次在全球范围内肆意发动战争，把世界搞得狼烟四起、民不聊生。有分析指出，此次美核潜艇在南海海域发生碰撞事故，未来是否还会有意外事件发生？必须警惕美方操纵舆论、瞎编借口的一贯手段。

The US is playing dumb on the nuclear-powered submarine collision incident, but it’s quite eloquent elsewhere. It has been busy in manipulating international public opinions, sowing discord, and pinning blames in order to mislead the public. During the Cold War, it implemented Operation Mockingbird by buying off the media to manipulate public opinions; after the Cold War, it took advantage of its discourse hegemony to systematically spread lies and comprehensively control the media. During the Iraq War, it claimed to have found the evidence for Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction, which, as it turned out, was nothing but lies. During the Syrian conflict, the attacks with chemical weapons that the US claimed to have “iron-clad evidence” for also proved to be directed and acted by itself and its allies…For so many years, the US, in pursuit of its self-interest, has wantonly waged wars across the globe and played havoc with the world and its people. Some analysts expressed their concern about other incidents in the future after the recent USS nuclear-powered submarine collision. We should be highly vigilant against America’s usual trick of manipulating public opinions and fabricating excuses.

热衷于要求他人“透明”的美国，此番在核潜艇碰撞事故上含糊其词，究竟想干什么？世人的眼睛是雪亮的，遮遮掩掩藏不住“美式双标”的丑陋面目。如果美国继续在冷战思维和霸权主义的道路上一意孤行，对国际社会的正义呼声置若罔闻，拒绝承担一个大国应尽的责任，其国际信誉和国际形象必将加速崩塌。

Always asking other countries to be “transparent”, why is the US so secretive and evasive about the submarine collision incident? The world knows clearly what it is doing. Beating about the bushes cannot hide the ugly “American double standards”. If Washington is bent on going further down the path of Cold War mentality and hegemonism, turns a deaf ear to the international community’s call for justice, and refuses to bear its responsibilities as a major country, its international credibility and image will fall apart at a faster pace.
