BEIJING, Nov. 23 -- The US guided-missile destroyer USS Milius sailed through the Taiwan Strait on November 23. The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) sent naval and air forces to conduct close-in tracking and monitoring and guarding against the US warship in the whole course, said Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command, in a written statement released on Tuesday.
This action of the US side created security risks and undermined regional stability, said Shi. The troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command will take all measures necessary to resolutely counter all threats and provocations and safeguard China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the spokesperson stressed in the statement.
