WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Three retired U.S. military generals have said that they are concerned about "the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election" and the United States should prepare to prevent a potential coup.
"We are chilled to our bones at the thought of a coup succeeding next time," the generals wrote in an opinion piece published in The Washington Post recently.
They said signs of potential turmoil in the armed forces have shown and "the potential for a total breakdown of the chain of command along partisan lines is significant should another insurrection occur."
