KIEV, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Defense Minister Olexiy Reznikov said on Monday that there is a chance for his country to avoid a full-scale conflict with Russia, the Ukrainian government-run Ukrinform news agency reported.
"I am convinced that today the maneuver for a political and diplomatic solution to an unresolved large-scale war exists and remains," Reznikov told a media briefing.
Reznikov added that there are some signs indicating that Russia's offensive is unlikely at least in the near term.
Since November 2021, Kiev and some Western countries have accused Russia of assembling heavy troops near the Ukrainian border with a possible intention of "invasion."
Moscow has repeatedly denied the accusation, stressing its right to mobilize troops within its borders to defend its territory as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's activities constitute a threat to Russia's border security.
