BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) -- China is preparing for the third foreign ministers meeting among the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, and is willing to contribute to the durable stability and security of Afghanistan, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Monday.
The United States has walked away irresponsibly from Afghanistan, leaving the Afghan people in a serious humanitarian crisis and creating enormous security challenges to regional stability, Wang said at a press conference.
The immediate priorities are to race against time to provide humanitarian aid, Wang said, urging the United States to immediately lift the freeze on Afghanistan's assets in the United States and various unilateral sanctions.
The United States must return unconditionally the assets that belong to the Afghan people to avoid causing "secondary damage" to the people, according to Wang.
