MINSK, May 4 (Xinhua) -- A sudden test of reaction forces has begun in the Armed Forces of Belarus, BELTA News Agency reported on Wednesday, citing the country's Defense Ministry.

The purpose of the inspection is to assess the combat readiness of the Armed Forces for crisis situations. Military units and subunits are put on alert, marching to designated areas and performing combat training tasks.

The composition of the forces involved will gradually increase, which will make it possible to test their ability to counter military threats both on the ground and in the air, it reported.

Belarusian Defence Ministry said the exercise is one of the most effective forms of military training and does not "pose any threat either to the European community as a whole or to neighboring countries in particular."
