Reporter: It is reported that the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has recently organized joint war-preparedness alert patrol and combat training exercises involving troops of multiple services and arms in the waters and airspace around the Taiwan Island. Some analysts believe that this is a stern warning against the recent US-Taiwan collusion activities. What is your comment on that?
谭克非：我们坚决反对美方同中国台湾地区进行任何形式的官方往来和军事联系。搞“台独”是死路一条，支持“台独”也是一条不归路。美方多次明确表示奉行一个中国政策，不支持“台独”。但一段时间以来，美方变本加厉打“台湾牌”，企图“以台制华”，势必把局势引向危险境地。
Defense Ministry Spokesperson Tan Kefei: We firmly oppose official exchanges and military ties in any form between the United States and China's Taiwan region. Seeking "Taiwan independence" leads nowhere but to a dead end, and so does supporting "Taiwan independence". The U.S. side has repeatedly made explicit commitments that it sticks to the one-China policy and does not support "Taiwan independence". However, for a period of time, the U.S. side has intensified its efforts to play the "Taiwan card" with the attempt to use it to contain China, which will inevitably put the situation in jeopardy.
台湾是中国的一部分，台湾问题不容任何外来干涉。中国人民解放军东部战区在台岛周边海空域组织多军兵种联合战备警巡和实战化演练，就是针对美台勾连、根据维护国家主权和领土完整需要采取的必要行动。中国人民解放军枕戈待旦，采取一切必要措施，坚决挫败外部势力干涉和“台独”分裂图谋。
Taiwan is a part of China and the Taiwan question brooks no external interference. The PLA Eastern Theater Command has recently organized joint war-preparedness alert patrol and combat training exercises involving troops of multiple services and arms in the waters and airspace around the Taiwan Island, and these are necessary actions taken targeting the US-Taiwan collusion and conforming to the need of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The PLA is on high alert and ready to take all necessary measures to resolutely thwart any external forces' interference and secessionist attempts for "Taiwan independence".
