SHANGHAI, June 17 -- The launching ceremony of China's 3rd aircraft carrier was held at the Jiangnan Shipyard of China State Shipbuilding Corporation on Friday morning.
经中央军委批准，我国第三艘航空母舰命名为“中国人民解放军海军福建舰”，舷号为“18”。
Approved by the Central Military Commission of China, the newly launched aircraft carrier was named "Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy Aircraft Carrier Fujian" and was given the hull number 18.
福建舰是我国完全自主设计建造的首艘弹射型航空母舰，采用平直通长飞行甲板，配置电磁弹射和阻拦装置，满载排水量8万余吨。
Featuring flat flight deck, the carrier, named after the Fujian Province, is China's first domestically-made carrier that uses catapults. With a full-load displacement of more than 80,000 tonnes, the carrier is equipped with electromagnetic catapults and arresting devices.
该舰下水后，将按计划开展系泊试验和航行试验。
After being launched, the new carrier will conduct mooring tests and sea trials as scheduled.
