JINGMEN, June 20 -- China's homegrown TP500 transport unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) completed a successful maiden flight in Jingmen, a city in Central China's Hubei province, on June 18.
Developed by the First Aircraft Institute of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), the TP500 is the China's first large transport UAV produced fully in accordance with the airworthiness administration regulations of Chinese Civil Aviation.
The maiden flight lasted for 27 minutes, during which TP500 maintained a stable and desirable performance with high security.
It is learnt that the TP500 is a general-purpose unmanned transport platform with a maximum range of 1,800km. It can carry the standard loading of 500kg to cover the airfreight area with a radius of 500km.
