PLA Navy organizes activities to celebrate founding anniversary

QINGDAO, April 19 -- To celebrate its founding anniversary, the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) will organize a series of publicity and education activities. The open day events will be held at 62 naval barracks in 22 cities across China, including Qingdao, Dalian, Shanghai, Zhoushan, Guangzhou, Zhanjiang and Haikou. Besides, battleships in active service will be displayed at various military ports and wharves.

From April 22 to 24, the guided-missile destroyer Kaifeng (Hull 124), the guided-missile frigate Daqing (Hull 576), the comprehensive supply ship Kekexilihu (Hull 968), and the comprehensive submarine rescue ship Hongzehu (Hull 864) will be berthed at the No.3 dock in Qingdao for display. During the open day, the public can board the ships, communicate with the sailors on board, and participate in interactive activities featuring unique naval cultures such as knots, signal lights and flag code.

During the period, the PLAN will also hold a ceremony at the PLA Naval Museum in Qingdao to pay tribute to the naval heroes, organize coastal defense educational activities, and hold theme light shows in multiple cities to promote public understanding of the Navy and enhance national defense education.
