MAKASSAR, Indonesia, June 8 – The 2023 Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) kicked off in Indonesia on June 5. During the two days from June 6 to June 7, the Chinese sailors assigned to the destroyer Zhanjiang and the frigate Xuchang participated in a number of on-shore exchange activities such as city parade, maritime exhibition, civil medical service, culinary demonstrations, fun diving and sports.

On June 6, sailors from different countries paraded along the main street of Makassar City and finally arrived at Losari Beach to participate in the cultural and naval band show. There, the Chinese naval members gave traditional Chinese musical and cultural performances, and sang the Indonesian pop songs, which received a lot of applause from the audience.

Naval medical members of various countries also observed the clinic demonstration carried out by their Indonesian counterparts, and attended the health presentation on the theme of marine environmental pollution. The Chinese naval medical team held exchanges with other teams at the event site.

On June 7, the Chinese naval participants continued to take part in the cuisine and entertainment competitions, and interacted with their counterparts of various countries and the local residents in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
