The founding assembly of the 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is held in the barracks of a brigade of the PLA 81st Group Army under the Central Theater Command.

BEIJING, Oct. 11 -- The 10th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) was officially established in the barracks of a brigade of the PLA 81st Group Army under the Central Theater Command.

This contingent is composed of members from multiple specialties and arms, including infantry, armored force, reconnaissance unit, artillery, engineer and signal troops. They have been selected from the "Tiger Battalion" of a brigade under the PLA 81st Group Army, which has been famous for its heroic history.

The contingent will be commissioned with armed escort, security patrol, conflict isolation, rescue and evacuation tasks in the mission areas. Besides, more than 10 female soldiers will also be on the mission, dedicated to humanitarian relief and the protection of rights and interests of women and children.
