DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, July 30 -- The "Peace Unity-2024" joint exercise kicked off at the Comprehensive Training Center (CTC) in Mapinga, Tanzania on Monday morning local time.

At the opening ceremony, participating troops from China and Tanzania lined up while the commanders of the two sides delivered speeches respectively. Troops from both sides moved to the exercise area in operational groupings after the opening ceremony. During the following days, the participating troops will conduct joint training and in-depth exchanges on the exercise ground to promote their collaborative war-fighting capabilities.

It is learned that the joint exercise is conducted under the theme of joint counter-terrorism military operations. The drills on land will focus on subjects including joint operational planning, joint infiltration and reconnaissance, covert raid and rescue, and encirclement, decapitation and arrest. During the drills at sea, troops from both sides will carry out drills on main gun shooting, joint search and rescue, counter-terrorism and anti-piracy, among others. The drills at sea will conclude on August 5, and the drills on land on August 11.
