JERUSALEM, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians armed with two cutters and a knife who breached the security fence around Gaza were detained by the Israeli army on Thursday.

The two suspects who infiltrated Israel from the southern Gaza Strip were apprehended near the point of infiltration, said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement.

It is the fourth such incident in a week despite the Israeli army being on high alert in the area.

The IDF said the two suspects were transferred to security forces for further questioning.

On Wednesday, an unarmed man was arrested moments after he crossed from the northern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army captured three Gazans who were armed with knives and grenades and entered the Israeli territory. The three suspects crossed the Gaza security fence and traveled approximately 20 km into Israeli territory.

Last Saturday, the security fence was damaged by four masked Palestinians and they attempted to arson an engineering vehicle.

According to Israeli media, Friday is "Land Day," which marks the Israeli government's expropriation of Arab-owned land in the Galilee on March 30, 1976.

Palestinians are planning to construct a tent city across from the Gaza security fence and have called on tens of thousands of Gaza residents to participate in what they described as a "peaceful protest."
