Chinese, Lao militaries conduct "Peace Train-2024" humanitarian medical rescue exercise

VIENTIANE, Nov. 21 -- The China-Laos "Peace Train-2024" joint humanitarian medical rescue exercise kicked off on Wednesday at Phonhong Railway Station in Laos. The exercise was set in the context of humanitarian medical rescue for earthquake disaster.

During the exercise, the search and rescue team rapidly entered the disaster area to search for the wounded and gave them first aid. The joint medical rescue team organized examination, triage and emergency treatment for the wounded. After conducting food and water source tests and environmental disinfection in disaster areas, they dispatched ambulance helicopters and field ambulances to evacuate the wounded to the "Peace Train" hospital. Then the admission and treatment, critical care and surgical operation teams determined the medical treatment plan immediately, applied bedside electrocardiogram, ultrasound examination, and clinical tests, carried out damage control surgery, and organized joint consultation, ensuring orderly and effective treatment for the wounded.

After the collective training, all participants carefully completed the after-action review, summarized the existing deficiencies, and further standardized the joint rescue operation and professional support coordination, thereby improving the quality and efficiency of the joint exercise.
